About

Kaylen is a cut specialist, salon owner, and unapologetic texture nerd based in Memphis, Tennessee. With scissors in hand and a Southern accent that once stole the spotlight in a London barbershop, they bring sharp skill, real warmth, and fearless style to every appointment.

Their work is all about organic shapes, natural texture, and cuts that actually work outside the salon. They love clients who want volume, grit, and something that moves. If you’re embracing your curls or want to ditch your flat iron for good, they’ve got you.

Think: effortless cuts, juicy curls, big shags, and bold color moments that make people say damn.

The Roots: Background & Training

They trained at the London School of Barbering and have been behind the chair for over three years—but don’t let the number fool you. Kaylen’s got the soul of an old-school stylist with a fresh eye for shape, movement, and transformation.

Originally, Kaylen saw barbering as a ticket to live abroad. They weren’t looking for a calling—but three days into school, they were hooked. As the only Southerner in their class, their accent made them stand out. And when the Brits learned that in the U.S. “biscuits” meant buttery breakfast heaven (not cookies)? Kaylen became unforgettable.

That energy still shows up in the chair: unexpected, warm, and just a little subversive.

The Vibe: Salon Culture & Space

Back in Memphis, they carved out a space that feels the opposite of the barbershops they started in—private, home-based, and designed to feel like a judgment-free zone. A little vintage, a little punk, and full of life, records, and good vibes.

Kaylen’s product shelf is gender-neutral, non-toxic, and cruelty-free, stocked with faves like Cult + King, Hairstory, and AG Care.

The Ethos: Values & Inclusivity

Inclusivity isn’t a buzzword here—it’s the baseline. Every texture, identity, and story is welcome in Kaylen’s chair, but bigotry gets shown the door. No racism, no homophobia, no transphobia, no hate. Period.

Kaylen stays sharp through constant learning—online videos, hands-on workshops, and freeform cuts just to chase a new shape. They’ve also trained with industry heavyweights like Presley Poe and Skip Fellers.

The Person: Personality & Passions

When they’re not cutting hair, you’ll find Kaylen riding their Harley, thrifting for vintage gems, or reminiscing about their days building the cocktail program at Art Bar in Crosstown.

They call Memphis “the biggest small town in the world,” and they mean it as a compliment.

Their personal motto?

Love by the sword, die by the sword. (Just not the one they use to give you a killer haircut. Promise.)
